Celebrating the Waterfowl Festival in Easton, MD

Every fall, as the leaves turn and the skies above Talbot County fill with the V-formations of migrating geese, something special happens in Easton, Maryland: the Waterfowl Festival. For over 50 years, this cherished tradition has brought together locals and visitors alike to celebrate the rich heritage, art, nature, and community spirit of Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

At Welcome Home, we love watching our community come alive each November during this iconic event — and if you're new to the area, we can't think of a better introduction to life in Talbot County.

More Than Just a Festival

Yes, the Waterfowl Festival is known for its spectacular wildlife art and exciting events, but it’s also a powerful example of what a connected community can achieve. With the support of over 1,000 dedicated volunteers (many of whom return year after year), the event is entirely community-powered. It’s a massive labor of love — and the warmth shows in every detail.

Whether you're strolling through town admiring breathtaking wildlife paintings by master artists, or browsing booths filled with everything from handcrafted lures to luxury outdoor gear, there's something for everyone. Live music, delicious food, and even high-energy events like retriever demos and Dock Dogs competitions keep the energy high throughout the weekend.

Local Flavor & Family Fun

For foodies and families, the Waterfowl Festival delivers. Nonprofit-run food tents serve up classic Eastern Shore fare — crab cakes, oysters, and other savory favorites — while raising funds for important causes. It's comfort food with a purpose, and every bite helps support the community.

Holiday shoppers can get a head start on their list, too. From local crafts to specialty outdoor goods, it’s the perfect place to find something one-of-a-kind.

A Festival That Gives Back

Since its founding in 1971, the Waterfowl Festival has raised over $6 million for conservation and environmental education across the Delmarva Peninsula. From protecting wetlands and wildlife habitats to funding scholarships for young conservationists, the impact is lasting and meaningful.

It's more than an event — it's a mission. And every ticket, every donation, and every local partnership helps move it forward.
